Why Is the Mainstream Media Not Talking About This?!
I happened to read an article about global warming that knocked me out of my socks – “Rate of ice melt shocks warming experts.” “The Arctic is screaming” it says. Let me quote the first few lines of the article:
WASHINGTON - An already relentless melting of the Arctic greatly accelerated this summer, a warning sign that some scientists worry could mean global warming has passed an ominous tipping point. One even speculated that summer sea ice would be gone in five years. (Go to see full source:www.msnbc.msn.com)
That is scary. As I started to do a little more research, I realized that losing the Arctic ice is going to cause huge problems for planet Earth. I mean, it could lead to catastrophes on a global scale that may cause the extinction of our human race and life on Earth as we know it!
I found an article that lists what exactly would happen if global warming continues. Believe me, it’s awful. According to The Sunday Times in early 2007 – “What will climate change do to our planet? A degree-by-degree guide” – it could cause the extinction of the human race. As the heat warms up, fresh water would be lost from a third of the world’s surface, human beings would die of heatstroke, stressed plants would emit carbon instead of absorbing it, super-hurricanes, flooded coastlines, shortage of food on a global scale, just to name a few.
This is truly terrifying. There must be ways to stop global warming. Why isn’t our mainstream media is not talking about it? I watch the news and I hear nothing! The only time I hear about it is on the radio. Listen to Tom Hartman on Air America or Randi Rhodes on Nova M Radio. Since this is election year in the U.S., the Democrats are talking about it, but the Republicans are being tight lipped about it! I’m not a political person. I vote for a candidate who I think will do the best job for the nation and the people. I don’t care about party lines, but why aren’t the Republicans saying anything about climate change and global warming?
The UN came out with a report in 2006 – Livestock’s Long Shadow – and it talked about the critical state of our planet due to carbon emissions from raising livestock for consumption, transportation, etc. Why isn’t our media talking about this?
I realized that some people do not believe that it’s even happening! And we’re talking about the state of our planet! This is one of those instances where I rather be safe than sorry, because being sorry afterward means we’re dead meat, like what David Letterman said in his show recently (http://www.ecorazzi.com/). Let’s get the word out there, people. Go online, do the research, google it. We have to do something now, this minute, this second, to save our beautiful planet Earth for ourselves and for our kids. I certainly do not want our planet to become something like Mars - dead, lifeless, uninhabitable.

You´re completely right !!! It´s amazing that such important issue is not front page in all newspapers everyday !!! I agree that this is really the biggest problem we are facing and we need to do something NOW about it.
At least, I am a vegan ( I don´t eat or use any animal product) so I am sure I am doing my part to help halt climate change and save our planet. If someone is reading this and think I am completely space out saying that being vegan is the best thing to do to stop climate change … Didn´t you know that a vegan driving a SUV is polluting less than a meat-eater driving a Toyota Prius? Meat consumption is the biggest contributor to greenhouse effect !!!
If you don´t believe me, google about it .. You´ll be surprised about what you will read !!!!!!
If we don’t stop eating dead meat, we’re going to end up as dead meat.
what you´re saying is deffinitely true. Our biggest problem right now is global warming, but not everyone realizes it. one of the problems is that people don´t want to believe that this actually could happen to us, that it actually could come true. or sometimes we think that it isn´t going to happen now, but it IS happening now and we are seeing the consequences of it every day when we read or hear about floods, hurricans, etc all over the world.
the other problem is, as you say, that there isn´t much publicity done about it. I mean, every country should start paying more attention to this topic and make people realize the importance of changing our way of living now, before it´s too late.
The best and most simple thing we can do is to become a vegan because of the greenhouse effect, as mentioned before. and all the space, time and tons of food we use to feed the animals, is space and food that we deny ourselfs and the ones that have nothing to eat.
There´s a lot of information on the internet about the importance of being a vegan.
So, let´s start now, as soon as possible!!
Yes, I totally agreed with you I rather be safe then be sorry and dead meat afterward. We all can stop global warming by simply eating less meat and go vegetarian.
Yes. The fact is that media does not publish more of this, due to the enormous efect upon great companies that produce animal products. It is urgent to make them and many scientists understand the need to promote the vegan and/or vegetarian diet. Beneficial for everyone! Not just for some.
